- Explain three (3) reasons why starters are necessary when starting an induction motor which rating is more than 5 horse-power.
NOTE: Starters are needed in other to start high horse power induction motor because of the following reasons;
- It is 4-7 times the full load current when switched directly on line.
- The heavy starting current causes voltage drop
- High voltage drop result in objectionables
